Mostly Classic Rock, 80s Metal, some newer Metal (Rob Zombie), some pop, talk radio, but not much into country.

Rarely read, takes too long and no longer have the time or patience. I thumb through my Mustang magazines and Lubrication related material.

Plans for the future:
One day possibly a turbo or some other power adder, but also possibly upgrade to an 04 Cobra engine. These thoughts are still far down the road, next step will probably be one of the new intake manifolds or brake upgrades now that Amsoil has brake fluid.

I've been an Amsoil Dealer for many years slowly building my business part time. In August of 2001 I bought a 35th Anniversary Mustang GT and have loved it since. I slowly keep modifying. Only regret, I sometimes wish it was a convertible or something to let the Florida sunlight in at time.

Kinda personal, huh? The rumble of a good Mustang?

I like my business because it's also a hobby for me. Computers, my Mustang....

The big names aren't too bad, but most work with a budget that says they have this amount to work with in order to turn this amount of profit from the final product. Most R&D is based on that. Amsoil is still owner operated and believes if you make a quality product first, people will learn about it and use it. They pretty much have always had this approach. Al, the founder, was the first to have an API rated synthetic on the market and everyone told him that he was nuts, no one would want to spend the money for a quart of synthetic oil when petroleum was much less. As you see, now everyone sells what they call a synthetic.

If you want a catalog, send me you contact info and/or visit my Web Site. I can have anything shipped to you, just as the local Dealer would do when he orders, if there is one in your area, so pricing should be the same. I can also set you up with one of the wholesale accounts. Our Preferred Customer Membership is the most popular which works like a Sam's or Costco membership where you buy at a 20-30% savings from retail. If you're planning on converting your whole car over, then this would probably be the option to go to save on all the products.

As for the pony pic, since I'm also advertising here on the site, I chose to use the Amsoil one to show that it's my banner ad everyone has been seeing. Just had some work done to my car, so I'll need to update my mod list. :-)

Thanx much. I've read a (little) in MM&FF about oils & the grading. I've always been one to distrust the "Big Names". But I know Amsoil has been arround a long time & farmers in particular tend to believe in it even if they don't know that much about the specs. I went ahead & printed it off for future reference. How can I tell if (& when) I find a local dstrb that they ain't hosin me. When I installed my Vortech I changed the engine to M-1 but I want to go full syn clear to the punkin in the near future. Oh yea I gave ya a nod. BTW where's the pony pic. The oil thing is helpful but face it We're all here for the Glory of the Pony. Have a Great Christmas P51BGT

Yes, Amsoil is full synthetic. There are a few different groups of synthetic on the market now. A Group III oil is called synthetic, but is a highly refined petroleum base. Most synthetics use this. Group IV is a PAO base, which most die-hard synthetic fans call a "true synthetic" and Group V includes everything else like Ester, which Amsoil and Mobil went away from back in the 70s due to it's tendency to attract and hold moisture. Amsoil XL oil is their low end tier of oil and falls into a Group III, however they use the highest quality (refined) available for that group, while many companies use a quality just high enough on the scale to pull it out of the Group II regular oil but can now charge a synthetic price. The other Amsoil lines are Group IV.

Mobil 1 is a good oil and still is a Group IV, but with the die hards there is some debate because some of their additives use a petroleum carrier oil, last I heard, making some say they are a blend. RP is questionable to me. Before their regular line of oil was a blend of PAO and petroleum and only their racing oil was full PAO, but a few years ago in one of the Mustang mags the RP rep said that "all synthetic comes from crude" which isn't the case unless he's referring to Group III oils, in which case this makes me wonder if they switched to this base as well.

Comparing # to #, RP in the past when I looked often didn't compare to Amsoil's lower tier of oil, and many racers I've talked to don't like RP, especially circle tracks style racing. In fact in a recent Gear Lube test Amsoil did comparing their to other brands, RP was out of spec for one of the tests new from the bottle, and after the test was out of spec on the other end of the graph when it was used. They didn't fair very well in the Motorcycle Oil testing Amsoil did a few years ago as well.

Mobil's #s are pretty good, but Amsoil's tend to still be as good in most and better in others. A few years ago Mobil started promoting their Extended Drain oil with 15,000 mile intervals. BUT they only promote this on cars out of warranty. Amsoil has promoted 25,000 mile drains since 1972, whether the car is under warranty or not. Amsoil just released their Signature Series 0W-30 oil, which they believe is their best oil to date, with a TBN level (helps keep the oil going) higher than diesel oils and is actually rated fr 35,000 miles.

I sound a little biased, but I guess I am. However, I was an Amsoil user long before becoming a Dealer and it wasn't until I started learning more about the products that I decided to sell it.

Hope this helps.
