Default manual tranny for my 4 banger

Ok think I have my control arm dilema under control now I need some advise on an existing problem I want to fix before it gets worse. The syncronisers are starting to go bad and 1st gear can be a real problem sometimes, mostly when trying to take off from a dead start and its not already in 1st (the tranny spits it out of 1st unless you get it just right and take off slow). would it cheaper to take to a shop and have them fix it or get a rebuilt tranny. If I go with a rebuilt is it possible to use one from a 93 5.0 and just bolt it up to a 2.3 or will in not line up? I'm only asking because its so much easier to find used or rebuilt tranny's for a 5.0. it was just a thought of mine for maybe a little upgrade since i may end up cheaper to replace it anyway. All thoughts are welcome

Any 5.0 tranny will bolt up, you just have to use your existing belhousing.

A rebuilt tranny will cost apporox $1500 after install. To have a shop rebuild your tranny will be just a hair bit cheaper. A quick syncronizer redo will cost a heafty pinny as well.

Mustangs Unlimited - The Premier Source for Mustang, Shelby and Cougar Parts and Accessories sells a rebuild kit, that way all you have to do is bring it to a shop and have them do the labor, that way you miss out on the charge for parts.
