Default rust spots

anyone have any tips on buffing out/fixing rust spots?
what to use, how to's etc
any input apreciated

How big are they first of all?

there are a few that are rather small, between dime size and half dollar size
but there is one big one that really worries me. its about 8-10 inches in diameter (at the widest part) and im pretty sure that there are some parts of that one spot that is into the metal. the metal isnt rotted out yet but it will be soon if i dont take care of it.

eventually getting the car primed and painted but want to do most of the body work myself

Rust is the anti thing for the car...it spoils the car body and the car looks bad..if you are facing this problem just give it for repaint which will save its life
