I bought what I was told was a roller short block to build a 5.0 HO. I have now learned all about casting numbers etc... I have an early 80's non-roller block bored 40 over. Stock crank. I will be using E-7 heads and H654 P pistons. What I am unsure of is the cam/lifter/rocker/rod/spring combination in the flat tappet version. I have read that VTP clearance is the big issue here. Has anyone built anything like this? Is this possible? Help.
Why dont you just change it into a roller, I did the last time I built a 351 non roller. Just get the spider and dog bones, and it should work fine. Just watch out for 40 over, that alot on a stock 302, may have overheating issues.
