Default vin decoder

can somebody post a good site i can put in my vin and decode it it's a 79 v8 i'm trying to find out if it has a c4 or c5 tranny in it. i need a rebuild kit but don't know what one to get. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

your right it's in the door tag i was not thinking. that site is cool but it only does 80 and newer thanks anyway.

While I was searching, I found one through Ford. I think it was under maintenance. I'm not sure though. Do a google search for "VIN Decoder" that's what I did.
