Default Firewall problem

I removed the clutch cable to install a firewall adjuster and found a crack in the firewall where the cable mounts. Anybody ever run into this issue or know someone who has. Im sure I can weld it and install a reinforcment plate but would rather not have to do that much work. Let me know.

Crack as in stress crack, rust crack, manufacture error crack, need a little more info here. Just given the info provided, it sounds as if you already know what your answer is, I know it's not what you wanted to here, but to fix any patch you can either brace it with a piece of sheet metal, or cut it out all together, and weld in another piece of sheet metal.
