Default Hey i'm new

Just signed up yesterday. I bought a 1982 Mustang GLX with a 5.0 and 4 speed (SROD I guess) with a dealer-installed '82 GT hood, black leather interior (EA code) and 1P paint (only 319 Mustangs painted that color out of all GTs and GLXs in '82) about a month ago. It had a bad crank so I did it justice with a .020 under crank from Standard Machine here in Phoenix, AZ and Clevite bearings all the way around. I through in an emissions legal Edelbrock 4bbl carb and intake manifold with the EGR spacer deal. Besides the carb and intake, the only mods are aftermarket Y-pipe and muffler delete on the single exhaust, neither of which were my doing. I also got a brand new 8.8" rear end built by Ford for a Mustang at Bondurant driving school that was never used. It's got 3.27 gears and T-Lok, all of which are brand new including the housing. I transplanted the slapper bars from the 7.5" rear onto the 8.8" and welded on a quad-shock setup. No wheel hop at all. Only problem I'm having is engine oil leaking onto exhaust pipe right below the very front of the transmission belhousing. Not sure where it's coming from but it IS engine oil.
Anyway, where are all the early fox body owners ('79-'85) ? For some reason my car has ASC wheels on it, probably someone installed them in the late '80s/early '90s.
I'd like to hear about some other people's early fox bodies!

Hi, welcome to MyMustangSite.com! Wow, sounds like you own a rare stang indeed. There are plenty of Fox body owners on the site. Not everyone is aware of our forums. Glad you have joined us and found your way here. Regards, Auggie

We also have a southwest forum with local happenings that may be of interest. I am sure there are Fox body stangers in your area.

I don't have fox, but I do have a 5.0

I'd have to write a book to list all that I've done/fixed, but here's just a quick list:

Caster Cambers added and adjusted (didn't come with them)
Calipers, Rotors (1rst time, stocks were beat to hell, before Cobra swap)
EGR return pipe (broke away from the X pipe)
Thermostat Sensor (replaced, original died)
EGR Sensor/Valve (both failed/died)
A/C Lines (all were leaking)
New Air Compressor (stock had failed and was leaking oil)
New Exhaust Headers Back (exhaust that came with the car had rusted and failed)
Fuel Pump (replaced with a 155lb, stock failed)
Cobra break kit w/ drilled/slotted rotors (stocks just don't cut the mustard)
New Tires (tires that came with the car were shot)
New Spark Plugs/Wires (believe it or not it still had plugs and wires from 95 lol)
New Timing Cover Gasket (blown gasket)
Two Thermostat Cover Gaskets (blew those twice)
Rebuilt W/C T-5 with new transmission mounts (stock T-5 blew)
Spec Stage 1 Clutch (stock clutch and bearings were shot to hell)
Aluminum Driveshaft (just for the hell of it)
New Rear Differential Gasket (other gasket failed and started leaking)
New Seats (stocks were.....well....nasty)
New Radiator (stock was shot)
New Battery (last one was shot)
New Powermasters 220 amp alt (last one was a Bosch and was shot)
New Radiator hoses (stocks were old and worn)
Chrome Upper Radiator hose (hey I like the bling)
New Ignition Coil (stock was D...E...A...D)
All my new engine parts (just cause I love power )

I had an 82 GLX coupe for several years & sold it to a friend of mine earlier this year. Dark Curry Brown Metallic exterior with Vacquero interior. It was a 5.0L 4 speed car with power windows/locks, premium sound, leather, TRX suspension & hood scoop. I wish I would have been able to keep it & restore it, but you can't keep them all!
