SLP Loudmouths I's are about the loudest exhaust you can get...they're actually more of a resonator than a muffler.

If you want real loud and good sound quality, I would go with the Borla XR-1 mufflers. I have personally heard these and they sound amazing...very intimidating rumble and at wide open throttle they freakin roar!

Ok Newb question... Dual Exhaust.. Would i have to get 2 XR-1s? Got a little cold in rl so im not thinking clearly.. I'm trying to get everything written down so i can remember all the pieces to make it sound like a monster.. it sounds great now but i want it louder and meaner.. and also what would be a good size for a 85 Fox body? Thanks for all the help

Yes, one muffler for each side.

The best sound will largely depend on the person, however SLP loudmouths are probably by far the loudest exhaust you can get if it's loud you want.

Thanks.. Yeah i'm clueless right now bad few days with this cold.. Is it possible to get a nice H Pipe Set up and just switch the mufflers with XR-1.. When i can i'm planning on changing the entire exhaust from headers.. i don't wanna just put on mufflers and thats it ya know?? I wanna make it clean and brand new. Is that possible and would it give me trouble to have it done? I would like loud for sure.. but i don't want it sounding horrible. I'll put it this way.. I wanna be heard from a few blocks down coming

Thanks again

Jason

Yes, a dual exhaust requires 2 mufflers.

If you plan to go with an aftermarket h-pipe, you may want to consider changing out your entire stock catback rather than just welding in new mufflers. The reason is that most aftermarket h-pipes have 2.5" diameter piping. Your new aftermarket h-pipe would be flowing into the smaller diameter stock piping of your existing catback...this would be somewhat restrictive and not to mention won't yeild you much power gains and probably won't give you the sound you are looking for. In most cases larger exhaust piping flowing into smaller exhaust piping tends to give off a the popping and crackling sounds especially during decelleration.

You could take it to a couple different exhaust shops (make sure they have and use a mandrel bender) and get a couple price quotes on how much it would cost for them to fab you up a nice catback with 2.5" piping and mufflers of your choice.
Or you can look around and see if anyone is selling a used or cheap aftermarket catback with 2.5" piping and just switch out the mufflers to the XR-1's.

I think you will be super happy with the sound quality of an aftermarket 2.5" inch h-pipe flowing into 2.5" inch catback with Borla XR-1 mufflers! If I had a fox body, that's the setup I would go with along with some Hooker headers!
Keep me posted on what you decide to do brotha!

Thanks for all the help.. I'm going to have to call a Mustang garage in the next town over by me that just does Mustangs.. I'll give them a call and talk to them and see if they can do that for me which i'm sure i can. They work on all mustangs no matter what year and body type so i can just go there and hopefully that'll help me out like they did with my clutch.. I'll give them a call soon for sure and ask him a few prices and we'll see how things go. Thanks for all the help.. I'm sure i'll be asking for more help soon enough

I'd go ahead and switch to long tube headers, catted x pipe, and cat-back exhaust....

It's just better to do it all at once, even if you have to save for a while...
