i was driving my 85 mustang. its an automatic but i can still shift out of low and into second then into overdrive. but as i went from 1st to 2nd it cut out on me and i couldnt get her started back up again. it is not the battery i got a jump but she wouldnt keep life. im thinking the alternator? i have no idea.

well check the alt. take it to autozone and they will check if it's good or bad when you do that you'll find out if its good let me know because it sounds a little fishy so get it check out and see.

Hi, right quick, does the "batt" light in the dash come on when you turn the key on? If that bulb goes out, your charging system won't work. It sounds stupid, but that bulb completes the circuit. Seen alot of people beat their brains out over that one. Had that issue twice with my '87 GT, so I pulled the bulb and soldered a 1/4" piece of #12 wire across the leads. Haven't had a problem with it since!
