What kind of car it is and it's tranny type would be more helpful.

tranny = c6

driveshaft i need is a 48 or 49

it is a 1983 fairmont has a v8, c6 tranny and stock 7.5 rear end

the only thing that is holing me back from the road is the driveshaft and shifter but i want the driveshaft first.

Call some junk yards and see if they have any. If you can tell me how many input and output splines you need that would make it a lot easier to find one. Once comes to worse you'd have to buy a driveshaft that fits the input/output splines and have a machine shop cut and weld it to size.

Well not sure on that one as my knowledge is limited to Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes, but I do know that if you can get a longer driveshaft with the same input/output then you can have it cut and welded to the size you need.

well a ford fairmont is based off a fox body mustang here ill show some pics as well

and i got a long driveshaft i need someone to cut

but i got a big fear of that! i got a big motor that puts out around 300 to 350 hp and if it might break the weld from the hp and tq it puts out. because i do some hard shifting sometimes and beat on my cars like my stang and my truck i beat on them and do hard shifting and i want the driveshaft to stay in place instead of breaking in two at the welds.

If it's properly welded, it will never break, only a half ass crap weld will break. 300 rwhp 350 rwtq may sound like a lot, but it's really not.
