Default 408 or 331

what would be better a 408 or a 331? i want like 700 to 800rwhp. If i go with a 331 i would have to get a aftermarket block and they cost like 2-3 grand. I was wondering how much hp a stock 351 block can handle. It will eventually be supercharged or turboed and on the bottle.

I'd say go the aftermarket block route if you want that much power. The BOSS block is only about 1.5k and can support up to 1000 as I've heard.

in the long run, building a 408 will not be much more than the 331.i had a friend with a 408 turbo'd and ran 10.0's at over 145 and not getting on it till about 300ft or so.that was a stock block also.

if your talking about the new boss block then you can get them in different deck heights.the 302 and teh 351 have different heights.on a 302 block you can go to a 362ci and the 351 blocks you can go bigger than a 408,not sure how much.the clevland block are way different.what is your budget for a build right now?

Just keep in mind, there is no replacement for displacement. For as much power as you want, go with the bigger engine, you're already looking at a boat load of cash, might as well do it right.
