Default problem waterpump

waterpump hell.. my first stang's first remove an replace, waterpump was weeping for three weeks so i decided to r/r it. this was a little intimadating at first because i'm an old chevy guy and never really worked on fomocos engines. the removal went slow as i was trying to remember were everything goes, and it was'nt bad at all, untill it was all together and i poured water in and it leaked it seams to be leaking from between the pump plate and pump. is there some special way or trick to this?? anybody else had this problem?/ any help would be much appreciated. nickb..

well the abvious would be did you put a new gasket in place and if so. the best thing ive found is this gasket adhesive called copper spray.any auto store shouod have it. spray it on the gasket then stick the gasket to the plate first and it helps hold the gasket in place.

yeah i put two new gaskets[one on each side of plate], i even tourqed the bolts to spec, i just tried to snug the bolts up somemore and no dice. i removed the pump and scraped the gasket from the block side, i used some rtv[sensor safe] to make a gasket, cross my fingers. thanks nickb...

We have a few parts stores here that have done the same thing with parts. It depends on how well the "help" know cars. Good to here it is running again.
