Default No traction!

I got a 07 GT with original 235/50 R18 rear tires, I can't get any traction at all. I was just wondering if anybody have any suggestions to a tire that will stick. Biggest problem is that the OD have to match exactly or it will mess with my tune. I've been suggested Dunlop Sport 2000 and BFGoodrich G-Force TA KDW any input is greatly appreciated.

Can i assume your car is the blown one that shows the enginein your avatar. Well notire will hook perfectly on the street. you have to baby it and learn to slip the clutch on hard launchs. But a Narrow tire is only going to hook so much on the street. ....you want hook..go wider and softer..plain and simple. Alsoinvest in som chassis mods to help put down that power.

It's an automatic and that makes it interesting, I also have Eibach complete suspension set to help get better grip. I think I probably'll go with the BFGoodrich G-Force TA KDW2 285/40 on the rear and stay with original size in the front. And just have the car retuned. Please any comment is appreciated.

You will probably have to have a speedo shop recalibrate your speedo when changing to the larger size rear tires.

Any wheel hop issues or have you upgraded the lower control arms?

Cheers

A factory recall fix on the torque converter, just about solved my problems. Night and day difference. But I'm still going to go to a 10" rim in the rear.

New 10" wheels for the rear and 9" for the front is ordered. The question is should I go with the BFG KDW or the BFG Drag Radial, 305/35-18 better hook better. Any suggestion is welcome, I know the drag radial wil hook better, but the kdw has better wet performance, the question is how much is the difference.

I'm running the bfgoodrich 285/40 18's on my s/c 05. they work well the nitto 555's are a better choice. the 285/40's are close enought to the correct rolling dia that you won't have to make any changes to the tune.

The BFG Drag Radials are great but if they get even a little wet you will loose you rear, I gave a blown stage 3 I am running 295/18 in the back on a 10 in rim and on the street I use the Goodyear eagle F1 supercar tire and they hook up really well and stick pretty good in the rain too.
