Default 3.73, 3.55 vs stock gearing on a 00gt

I plan on taking to trip, (god forbid i have to put a tow package on my mustang tempory though). My question is with gears. Which of these three gear sets would get better gas mileage. What i'm doing is pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it and maybe a couple of other things. A friend of mine tells me that the 3.73 would be better because it would take less power to pull this trailer. While the stock gears would eat more gas due to the fact that it would take more power to say go up a hill. What do you think?

Default What will you do more often?

If you are only going to experience this scenario once or twice, build the rear for your desired usage. You don't want to rebuild your rear end several times to switch from hauling to hauler. The taller gears will give you better performance, but decreased gas mileage (your tires will turn faster, resulting in higher RPMs at the same speed). I switched from 3.27s to 4.10s and the increased performance versus the slight decrease in gas efficency (highway cruising mostly) was worth it. Here is a website that you can play with and see the differences....

Also look into renting a truck/suv/van with a hitch installed if you can swing it. It will keep that stress off your Stang.

Definitely go with the 4.10's unless you plan to add a PA in the future then stick with the 3.73's. 4.10's rock

What about getting a rental like an explorer or a pickup truck and getting the trailer i know it will still be a bit but i know it's less than a uhaul truck.
