Ok guys, I took my 04 Mach 1 in to the mechanics on Wed to have tires mounted and balanced. I figured while Im there I might as well do this system flush that theyve been recommending. So they flush the fuel system and coolant system. After everything is all said and done and I start her up, the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. I sit there and let her idle for about 5 to 10 mins, reving her every so often and it doesnt go off. When I ask the guy about it he says its on because of the chemicals they use and the O2 sensor isnt liking what its smelling. Just run it a day or so and it should shut off. Well here it is Friday morning and Ive ran the hell out of her the last couple days and nothing, its still lit and still aggervating me. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Am I jumping the gun here and it will go off in a day or so? Or should I take it back to them and have them check it out?

In my past experience, I've learned not to get mechanical work done at a tire store...
I've never heard of a fuel system flush as a recommended service either...changing the filter should be all you'd have to do.
Did they just change the fuel filter and dump some cleaner in the tank or something?
Unhook the battery, that'll clear the code. Hook it back up and start it, if the light comes back on go have it checked.

I've had bad luck at tires plus also. They tried selling me car tires for my S-10 that I used to have because the guy thought it would look nice because of the white lettering on the tire. He also tried telling me it won't affect my speedometer. These tires were about 3 inches shorter then they were suppose to be. I say bring it back and tell them to fix it free of charge.

That's exactly what it sounds like wal-mart guys got together and opened their own chain of cheap work with expensive prices rule of thumb if you want cheap tires buy off the net have the balanced and mounted wherever.. if you want good work done go to a good shop if you want cheap work done go to wally world. The only thing I can think of is unhooking the positive side of the battery and turn on the head lights to drain the alternator and plugging it back up and cranking it up and letting it run if it doesn't run right ask them what the hell they put on your intake to make the o2 sensor freak out you will have it fixed by a real mechanic and send them the bill if that doesn't work.. have it done and have a lawyer serve them some papers.. make them pay for what they did to your ride.

Couldn't have said it better myself...

I used to see issues like this all the time when I was at NAPA...some hack would screw up a customers car and keep throwing parts at it, then a qualified pro would fix the problem and send the bill to the first guy.

well,i agree with the other guys, want cheap work go to cheap places, but that doesn't excuse the fact that they should know what thier doing ( ? ). sounds like they unhooked your fuel lines drained the fuel by turning on the key, letting the pressure out, causing the sensor's to since no fuel pressure, but i'm not sure.
better have it checked!

I've worked in dealerships for years and can tell you that "flushes" do absolutely nothing except make the dealership money. We call the flush machines snake oil machines for just that reason and the companies that sell the crap even call them "profit centers" in their literature. My late father-in-law had exactly the same experience you describe. He went into Midas and they sold him a fuel system flush. His check engine light came on and they ended up having to replace his 02 sensors. I have a firm policy that if I take my car someplace to have something done and am offered a flush of any kind, I will never go back there again because I then know that the shop is dishonest.
