I noticed at the start of the Grand Am season, Blackforest Motorsports has apparently turned away from the pony car and has turned up this year in both Rolex and Koni driving BMWs.
Frankly, I can see the reasoning in Rolex...the Mustang is saddles by rules that keep it from being consistently competitive.
But in Koni, the Mustang has definately been successful.
Of course people said the Mustang would NEVER be competitive in World Challenge and that has not been the case this year. with Brandon Davis' Cobra taking a 1st place at Long Beach, a 4th at Sebring and a 2nd in Utah. A mechanical issue sidelined Brandon, but his father Mike claimed a 9th place finish in his Cobra.
Admittedly, both Davis and Ford's stock has fallen as Davis is now 3rd in driver pts as is Ford in Manufacturer points, but some of that is due to the amazing driving of Andy Probst.
And the current success of the Mustang is far from NEVER competitive. Go figure.
