Cool IRL fans?

Any Indy fans out there?

I was at the night race at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend. Although the Wheldon/Patrick bout was over by lap 10 (or when ever Wheldon passed Danica - he never looked back till that wreck that took him out) it was a good race and a close finish.

I must say though, I have never heard a driver need to be as micro-managed as Patrick...I listened on her team's frequency throughout the night and I was surprised how much gap assistance she needed....not to mention other things you'd expect a pro driver not to need.

I was pulling for TK but he just didn't have enough car...which goes back to the Patrick thing...she arguably had the fastest car for the last 12 laps (she closed on Hornish and TK in less than 3 laps easily) but could not manage to draft TK enough to push her teammate to a win? I don't know if it was the fact she was taking the same line on turn 1 all night and just could not break out of the rut or was she having suspension issues and could not hold the line or something else, but if she could have drafted with him for 3 or 4 turns it would have been a different outcome.

Still, anyone who can drive at 220mph around TMS for 200+ laps going 3 wide has my respect. I ran about 2 feet from the wall at TWS going 150mph and I had to fight the urge to stare at the wall.

Props to Sam Hornish Jr.
