Mustangs finish 2 & 3 in Koni opener
The Hyper Sport Ford Mustang GT piloted by Joe Foster, Jeff Courtney and Scott Maxwell finished 4 seconds behind the winning BGB Porche 997 in the Fresh From Florida 200, the season opener for the Koni Challenge.
Maxwell, taking the final stint in the #55 Mustang, moved impressively through the field from 6th to come within seconds of a win. Only the clock appeared to be able to beat the Mustang as Maxwell was closing on the field-leading Porche in the final minutes.
Maxwell and the Hyper Sport Mustang seemed to be getting stronger and put in the fastest lap of the race with a 2:01.216 lap in the final moments of the race, a full half second faster than the Porche's fastest lap earlier in the race.
Taking the final podium spot 1 second behind the Hyper Sport stang, was the #3 Blackforest Motorsports Ford Mustang GT driven by Scott Turner and Terry Borcheller.
2 other Mustangs, both from Rehagan Racing, finished in the top 10 (6th and 10th).
The Rehagen entries were running 1 and 2 for a while during the race but pit stops and a late yellow cost the team podiums.
