Ford Engine Codes

Does any one know what the p0456 is?

I have a 06' V6 Mustang coupe. My engine light came on and I took it to the local dealer. They said that the code found was P0456(evaporate emission code) and that they didn't know how to fix it and the Ford was investigation the Concern. The dealer said that it wouldn't hurt my car and they reset the engine light. I have to check back with them in a couple of weeks. But I concerned, because if it was a emisson code I would think that the gas cap light would come on not an engine code? I was wondering if anyone new the codes and help out? I just want to make sure..

on your evap code p0456 is a very small evap leak (a vacuum leak) the evap system has ether a vacuum hose with a pin hole in it or the system has had a hose with a bad seal. as for the dealership that told you that they just didn't want to tak the time to look for the leak. all dealerships should have to special tool that will smoke the evap system to find the leak but to do this test your car must have less than a half tank of fuel. maybe this will help.

Thanks. They told me it's a sensor and that ford doesn't know which on it is, that it could be one of 300. I think i'll look for another dealer, this isn't even the deal that I bought it from...thanks
