Default in need of some mods for a 2000 v6.

I've got a 2000 v6 mustang, since the insurance companies would have raped me with the cost to insure a GT for a 19 year old male. im looking for some ideas for some easy mods i could do myself that wont cost an arm and a leg. some ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

i would go with pullies or a short throw shifter if you have a 5 speed.

One of the easiest first mods is exhaust. Most V6 stangs sound pretty beefy with a dual exhaust system. I think the Magnaflows sound the best, nice and mellow.

When you're moddin your ride, don't forget the little stuff...
Fluids - Synthetics will protect better and might even free up some power.
Tune up - it has to run good.
Tires - they keep you stuck to the earth.
Brakes - Sometimes ya gotta slow down...
Suspension - if you can't outrun them, out-handle them.

Does the K&N air filter do much by it's self with just the stock intake? and what brand of underdrive pullies should I buy? How long and involved is the process for installing the undrive pullies?

With a K&N drop-in filter, you can expect 5-15 hp.
Something you should keep in mind tho...in dry climates, K&N filters have been known to screw up MAF sensors. They get coated with oil and dust and aren't cheap to replace. I used to see it all the time when i worked at the parts store. Just a thought....
I personally use paper filters. keeps things simple.

BTW you wont gain 5-15 RWHP with a K&N drop-in and i believe its supersixmotorsports.com that sells the adapter kit to put the 03/04 cobra blower on the V6

there is a super charger for the 3.8 it is not a job you can do your self...
the under drives are easy can be done at home but you will need some specialty tools
as far as brand the cheap summit brand are just as good as any other you can do a fresh/cold air intake easy in stall and if you have problems with the MAF sensor getting dirty get some throttle body cleaner and clean it off cheap easy fix....do not put dual exhaust you actually will loose power from that mod but if you do try ravens they sound the best on a v6
hear is a link to some instruction downloads

Exhaust, intake, pullies. These are the pretty basic mods that are easy to do and pretty cheap to do. Of course you not going to see much with a V6. Nothing against them, I have one and should have run it into the ground by now. They are great motors but they are hard to get much power out of unless you are willing to drop some cash on it. But easy simple mods will liven it up just a bit.
