Default GT500 Base Line Dyno Run

I've ordered several performance upgrades for my GT500 (black coupe, tungsten side stripes with top stripes deleted), CAI from JLT, Metco 2.6" pulley and idler assembly, Steeda axle back exhaust and a SCT flash programer with pre-programed tunes from Evolution Performance for the CAI and pulley set-up.

So I took the GT500 to my local Mustang shop for some dyno runs to establish a baseline stock HP figure. After three passes on their DynoJet dyno the GT500 turned 452 RWHP and 452 RWTQ. I though it was interesting that both HP and TQ were the same number...

I've received all the parts but realized that I didn't have a puller/installer for the pulley, one call to Metco and $85 later I've got one of their tools on the way; hopefully I'll be able to get to installing everything next weekend 12/23.

The other engine/drivetrain upgrades planned are shorty headers from Ford, a carbon fiber driveshaft from BMR and possibly an aluminum flywheel. I'd like to end up with 560 to 580 RWHP.

The engine and drivetrain upgrades come first, then I'll move on to the suspension and brakes and finish with rims and tires.

I'll let you all know how it progresses as things move along, it's been 24 years since I played with serious HP like this, and I forgot how fun it is, but it's all coming back to me...Kinda like riding a bike.

More later, best regards Folks,

WP

Default GT500 1st Mod Dyno Run

Installed the JLT cool air intake last night and downloaded the custom tune from Eveloution Performance for this intake using a SCT flash tuner.

Took it in to Nextgen Autosport in Hayward, CA today for some more dyno runs on their Dynojet. Thrid run after a 10 minute cool down, 528 RWHP/504 RWTQ (SAE 0.96, Run Conditions: 66.77 degrees F, 30.18 in-Hg., Humidity 23%). The max boost also went up to 10.2 lbs, the stock dyno run produced 9.4 lbs. max boost.

This is a 76 RWHP increase over stock and a 52 ft/lbs RWTQ increase. Using the standard 15% correction this motor is now turning 607 HP at the flywheel.

The Metco pulley and Steeda axle back exhaust come next, the pulley is supposed to add 4 lbs. of boost. I also picked up a set of NGK TR6 spark plugs at the advice of Fred at Eveloution Performance,, these plugs run cooler than the stock plugs which is needed for the higher 14 lbs. boost that the pulley should produce.

I'll try to post some pictures later, more HP to come.

Merry Christmas Folks,

WP

Hell yea keep em coming. Those are some really good number. Boosted cars aways respond well to the littlest things.

Default New Mods Installed

Installed the Metco 2.6" pulley, auxiliary idler and NKG TR6 spark plugs this weekend (2/3), also re-flashed the computer with a program from Eveloution Performance for the CAI and pulley. I also installed the Steeda axle back mufflers in January. You can certialny tell the difference with the Metco pulley installed and the Steedas' give it a loud throaty tone, I'll get it on the Dyno sometime this week and see where it's at now.

Thumbs up Don't stop now !!!

It sounds like 24yrs - you picked up real well.. It's obvious the numbers don't lie, sorta like the tires (home-made slicks)
