At the time, I was still working on the assembly line at Ford, building the Super Duty F-series trucks. Someone said they had heard on the radio on morning break that an airplane had hit the first tower. Several of us had radios on the line, and we all started hearing updates, and more bad news. Someone had a 13 inch tv in one of their lockers and brought it out so we could watch the constant footage on tv while building our trucks. All we could think about was 'how could this be happening' and what is gonna happen next. Obviously "quality" was not job #1 that day, and they let us go home at 2:00 to be with our families...I'll always remember that day, and the sick, uneasy feeling I had in my stomach all day...
