Default Went deer hunting a day early with my DD

Well I was bring my almost 11 month old son to the babysitter yesterday morning. At about 5:15 in the morning, an 8 point buck decided to commit suicide. I hit it doing about 60 MPH. It landed right on the hood and then went off to the drivers side. I'm just glad it didn't go into the windshield. Nobody got hurt except for the deer. He was toast. I don't hunt so this will be hopefully the only deer I get so we are going to mount it. As said before, it is an 8 pointer, roughly 200 lbs and the rack wasn't damaged at all. I doubt we will get any meat off it but I wanted the head. I am using my father in laws car for the next few weeks until I can buy a different car. The car was only worth around $700 so I'm pretty sure it's totalled. It was a great car for me though. It's a 1993 with 196,00+ miles. I'm just glad it wasn't the Mach. I'll tell people I shot it with a Probe!! LOL
Here are some pics!!

Glad to hear everyone is ok.
Be careful out there! Deer are in rutt right now (mating season) males are chasing the females everywere so they are not going to pay as much attention running across fields and roads. You see more deer accidents from Oct till Jan then any other time of year and more then likely since you hit the deer that fast and hard the meat would have been tainted from the bladder exploding or full of bone fragments - not good either way.

Glad you and your son didn't get hurt. I've seen some nasty deer and vehicle encounters.

I went deer hunting last night and didnt see a thing, on the way home I saw 5 either in the road or in jumping distance. I've hit 3 different deer since I started driving, it sucks everytime. I'm just glad you didnt try and miss the deer, more people will get hurt bad or even killed by trying to miss the deer. Glad to hear noone was hurt.

Yup, I just locked up the brakes and hoped for the best. That's the one thing a lot of people do wrong is to swerve to miss the deer and end up rolling their car or something. I was always told, "Take the animal, not the ditch or another car".

Hitting a deer is a little more forgiving then hitting a tree.

Well, I just got a call from the insurance company and it is indeed totaled out. They are giving me $1900 for it which is more then I thought. So it all worked out good. Now it's time to go car shopping.
