From what I heard on the "Way Forward" plan is Ford has been trying to get away from the old Detroit adage "We lose a littel money on every car we sell, but we make up for it in volume." In the end, They may not sell as many cars, but the ones they sell will actually be profitable. While the turnaround has been slow, Ford is certainly in much better shape that Chrysler right now!
What Ford really need to do here, is figure out how to do a mainstream out of the park home run like they have done with the Mustang a few years ago, and the F-Series. The Five Hundred/Taurus, while a very well designed car, just was not it. It was way too bland. What made the first Taurus a sucess was the fact it was innovative and when you saw one going down the road, you knew exactly what it was! It was different! The Fusion is a step in the right direction towards that.
