we just got back to nc from visiting family in iowa.  before we left town, we had a points race..... i was hitting the tree the way i needed and the car was running great... she is such a consistant performer.....

i was lined up for fourth round .... the second pair to go down the track ... when they called me forward to get in line for the waterbox, my car decided to not start for me.... no grind, no click, no nothing.....

i called the official over to let him know and they put me on the clock for either five minutes or the end of the class.... they got the jump box and tried with no luck to get me started up.... i was trying to stay calm and focused because i just ~knew~ my car would not let me down and i would be racing that round..... they paged rob [boyfrinn] to come to the staging lanes and he high-tailed it over....

they banged on the starter, banged on the solenoid, banged on every other god-knows-what they could get their implements of destruction upon and yet..... no nothing....

i had to forfeit the round to my competitor and get towed back to the pits.....

so..... in the pits we are trying to figure out what the heck is going on since the car is so danged reliable and simply never gives me a hard time....

boyfrinn decides to disable the wire from the ignition switch to the solenoid [so i would not crank the switch by habit while they push me onto the trailer].....the split-second that wire comes off, the danged car STARTS all by itself, so he goes dashing around to the drivers window thinking the switch must be on and IT IS NOT!!!!

so.... here we are, in the pits, my car vroom-vroom'in all by itself.... the KEY is in the OFF position on the column the solenoid is disabled and we have no way to shut her down..... we try taking the cable off the battery and that baby sparks like a welder ... so we just wait.... and wait..... and finally after about a full 4 minutes she just kinda shuts down.... a clean shut down, no coughing or sputtering, just ~done~ shuts down....

so we pull the battery cables and i armstrong steer that baby onto the trailer using boy-power to push me where i need to be.... [we have a 36' double-car open trailer, so it was a fun push for those guys....]

anyways, our next points race is in two weeks, so we have a little time to get things in order..... thankfully!!
