I had the misfortune to date a guy that was way into imports. I didn't know it was a huge problem for him until he told me about one a half years after we started dating that he's still "trying to get used to the fact that I drive a domestic." HE REALLY HATES DOMESTICS. It's a freeking CAR. What does it matter?
He thought he was hot sh*t with his 350z and felt my car couldn't compare. I wanted to get into autox and running my car on the tracks. He kept telling me I couldn't do it. My car wasn't good enough. He didn't want to give me any advice or show me anything. I asked.. what do I need to do? He said "Get a better car." He even made this stupid rule that we couldn't BOTH go to the tracks at the same time. He couldn't handle me going to the the track with my Mustang.
Needless to say... we broke up. Two of the first things I did was to take my car to the track and go autox. 
My new mission?
Kick his with my Mustang when I see his z on the street.
