I am the fortunate owner of a 1970 351 Cleveland Mustang Mach 1 which my oldest brother(God rest his soul) originally bought back in 1970. After he got out of the military (Marines) he had his heart set on a 1970 big block Corvette. However, a funny thing happened on his way to the dealership! He passed a Ford dealership with a Boss 302 in the showroom. He was informed that it was sold but to come back if he was interested in checking out the new arrivals of 351 Cleveland Mach 1's. Went back for a test drive and the rest is history! He gave it to me before he passed away and my father and I promised him we would have it restored to the way it was as it was severely weathered when he became terminally ill. I also own and ride the hell out of a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 and enjoy wailing rock and blues on my Strats and Les Paul! On the Mustang, I took a couple of liberties and added some fat BF Goodriches w/some Torque Thrust rims and upped the plumbing to 2 1/2 inch from 2 1/4 inch fitted into Spintech mufflers, gives the beast a nice Nascar type throat. And our mechanic upped the cam to that of the Boss 351! She's about 1 hp per cubic inch. In the future, I'd like to swap the cast iron single plane manifold for a dual plane aluminum one w/ a 650 carb and some headers!
