i dun did it now
DATE: Mar 15 2007, 7:39 am / MOOD: Happy

i haven't been on much since my last couple of weeks have been action packed. lol

turns out i blew a seal in my 62mm turbo. so i had to take my turbo off since my motor doesn't run well on oil. the turbo is being rebuilt. the exhaust sounds really funky with just the turbine housing on.

at first i thought i had a bad ring in one rear cylinder, but we've come to be suspicious that i may actually have cracked my block. i am having to change the plug every other day. lol i guess it's about time. i'm kinda surprised it didn't happen sooner. 675 hp through a 142k mile stock 302 block is pretty f'in amazing in my opinion. cracked and all, i think i'm gonna goldplate my block and make a coffee table out of it or something. lol

so anyways, on to the good stuff. my new 66 mm turbo should be arriving today. my new 363 ci dart block should be here in a few weeks.

i hope my motor can hold on that long. i can't wait to dig into it to see what has actually happened. i kinda hope that the block did crack and that it isn't something like a ring. what a way to go!

Blow-thru Carb Conversion
DATE: Jan 10 2007, 8:34 am / MOOD: Happy

Well, it is done! My conversion from EFI to blow-thru carb is finally done!

We spent the last several weeks mocking everything up for the new carb and when we got it, we took it out of the box, bolted it on, and started her up. she ran beautifully!

We had to adjust the jetting just slightly, but other than that, all of my EFI gremlins are gone and she runs like she has never run before.

Much quicker, more responsive, and her daily driveability is so much better... surprising, huh? lol

Carb Update
DATE: Dec 30 2006, 11:25 pm / MOOD: Happy

Update 12/31/06: A couple of weeks ago we borrowed a carb similar to the one we ordered from CSU and tonight we finally finished the mock up. When our carb comes in next Thursday, we should be able to bolt it on and start her up!

The fuel lines are all done, the MSD is all set up, the cold side piping has been rerouted, the manual rack was installed, the sumped tank was installed... it's all done!

I am so excited that by next weekend she could be running again!

Dyno Day Results
DATE: Oct 01 2006, 11:35 am / MOOD: Happy

so i got her dyno'd on saturday. it was interesting. we had a 9# spring and 2 shims in the wastegate and the boost gauge was reading 10psi.

on the first pull she spun her tires on the rollers and the pull was scrubbed. but the tuner heard enough to know that she was pinging a bit. so he pulled some timing out and ran her again.

she pulled a 506 but he said he still heard a slight ping so he pulled a lil more timing out.

on the next two pulls she hit 516 with peak torque at 529 with no pinging.

the air/fuel ran a lil on the rich side, but i am ok with that.

overall, i am extremely happy!

Dyno Tomorrow
DATE: Sep 29 2006, 6:09 pm / MOOD: Happy

So I am going to get my Mustang dyno'd tomorrow (Saturday). It's a tune shop I've never been to before. I've always had her dyno'd on a Dynojet, but this place has a Mustang Dyno.

I can't remember which way it is... is it usually the Mustang Dyno that reads less HP than a Dynojet or the other way around?

The last time she was dyno'd was a few weeks ago when I had her daily driver chip done... she pulled 501 HP.

I haven't done much to her since, but a local group of cars set up a dyno day and I thought I would go ahead and go...

I'll post up the results...
